year of the Tiger...tiger trout.

As this is the year of the Tiger, I will need to make sure I get somewhere to catch one of these Tiger Trouts. I even found a web site dedicated to these prize fish (http://tigertroutfishing.com/)

  1. Can I ask a question?
Is the tiger trout a sub-species or rainbow trout?

  2. Here is what I found on line…

The tiger trout (Salmo trutta X Salvelinus fontinalis) is a sterile, intergeneric hybrid of the brown trout (Salmo trutta) and the brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis). The name derives from the pronounced vermiculations, evoking the stripes of a tiger. It is a rare phenomenon in the wild, with the brook trout having 84 chromosomes and the brown trout 80.

  3. The tiger trout is a steriles?!
So is it also means the amount of tiger trout is rare?
Can you tell me where is the main spot to catch a tiger trout?
If I got the chance to go there, I definitely want to get one.
It looks more beautiful than brook trout.
