We become a superman when we are fishing

In near -15 C, Soboru and I were out fishing in pond to catch rainbow all day. Every time it amazes me that we could stay out in that cold weather that long. Since I started fishing, especially fishing in winter, I became much weather proof: I don’t often catch cold any more.

  1. I couldn't agree more. A good read from one of Gierach's books:

“A friend tells this story about a fly fisher’s wife: Before they were married, the man told her, truthfully, “I don’t drink, take drugs, gamble or chase women, but I do fly fish.” Two years later the woman was heard to say, “It sounded good at first, but now I wished he did some of those other things instead.” In the full context of the sport, stories of too much fishing causing domestic troubles are better than the ones where huge trout are either caught or lost. Remember, this is all about belief, and without some suffering, both physical and social, belief starts to look frivolous.”

  2. And I don't understand why time flies whenever we are out fishing... There must be some kind of nature-defying special force in action whenever we grab our fishing gears....

  3. Still, it takes time for your balls to fall back in place between your legs (instead of up near your heart) after hanging out in extreme cold as we hve these days. It's freakin cold eveywhere.
