Toast fly

Toast fly, the one we usually use in Taiwan for catching carps, is not very common in Western area. It is made of wood foam, which is usually used for cleaning cars and tables. When you use it, the fly float on the surface, like a dry fly. As carp is targeting it, you can see a carp approaching the fly and slowly open its mouth. Then, swallow it very slowly.

The strategy to catch the carp by this method is to spread many small real toast cube on the water surface. Then, observing the surface if there is any carp rising to take the real toast. As you see a carp rising, then you have to target it and cast your fly on the path which carp will go through. Finally, you catch it in your fly and photo it in you camera.

Hook: TMC D100 #8
Materials: Wood foam, EVA foam, Strong glue

  1. Caddis- just make sure you don't eat this toast. Some of the toast flies in your box looked so good, I wanted to eat it myself. Especially the one with the cheese. You will one day have to tell everyone about the grape flies too, that's a great story.
