Supersize me...

Most looks interesting when it’s sized out of scale… fishing tackle is no exception. I thought about this on the flight yesterday – supersized things for fishing and found a few interesting photos. There is the artist Ron Little’s 38foot fly rod. The record for the world’s largest Fly rod and reel was set in 1999 and is located in Port Isabel, TX. The functional fiberglass rod, created by Tiney Mitchell , is over 70 ft long. The functional reel is 4 ft in diameter and made out of aviation grade aluminum. There is another giant rod in Houston, British Columbia – a.k.a. the "Steelhead Capital of the World". There are also giant flies like this one in Vernal, Utah - made mostly of rebar, pipes and heavy duty rope. Orvis at one point sold this giant flask. Each one brought a smile to my face.
